The importance of being on time for school

2nd Dec 2024

Dear Parents,

We have started a new routine in the mornings. The children are lining up outside when the weather is kind, to allow their teacher to lead them into their classroom each morning.

As you know the school gates open at 8:45am and it is at that time the children start to line up with their teacher. Teachers will begin to lead the children in at no later than 8:55am.

It's unfortunate that some of the children can be a little late for school and now when lining up in the mornings.

Can you help us improve punctuality please?

Punctuality at the start of the school day is crucial for your child’s learning and overall success. Arriving just 10 minutes late each day may seem minor, but over time it adds up significantly. In a week, that’s 50 minutes of missed learning—nearly an hour of valuable class time. Over a month, it becomes 3 hours and 20 minutes, and over a school year, it totals more than 33 hours—almost a full week of school lost! This lost time impacts your child’s ability to settle into the daily routine, grasp key concepts introduced at the beginning of lessons, and engage fully with their peers. Ensuring your child arrives on time sets them up for success and reinforces essential life skills such as responsibility and respect for others’ time. Let’s work together to give every child the best start to their day!

Thank you.
