Sustrans ~ Active Travel, Bronze Award.
As part of our Eco Schools and healthy schools programme we have been taking part in a Sustrans Active Travel scheme. This programme is an exciting initiative to try and promote an active and healthy journey to school through walking, cycling or scooting rather than taking the car.
As a school we have been taking part in a range of different challenges such as Journey to Santa, A Superhero Challenge and a Big Pedal Challenge.
Throughout our school we have already seen an increase in children engaging in a healthy mode of active school travel and a decrease in the number of children who are being driven to school. Recently our hard work was rewarded when Dave Wiggins from Sustrans came into the school and presented us with a Sustrans Active Travel bronze award.
We are now working towards earning a silver award. We will keep you updated with our progress.
