STEM Lifeboat Huddle!
5th Apr 2025
Our STEM investigation this week centred around the question- Why are the passengers huddling on the lifeboats?
We conducted a fair test using bottles of warm water to represent the passengers! We were amazed to find that the loan ‘passenger’ in the icy water lost heat a lot quicker than the ‘passengers’ that huddled together! We discussed how passengers on the Titanic’s lifeboats would have huddled together to try and keep warm - we also learnt about how penguins in Antarctica also huddle together to conserve heat!
We have really enjoyed completing a range of STEM investigations based upon our ‘Unsinkable’ topic!
