Today we completed a fair test experimenting what would happen to a candy cane when it was placed into 3 different liquids for 5 minutes.
We enjoyed making predictions, observing what happened and discussing reasons for our findings.
When the candy cane was placed in cold water, it started to slowly dissolve and most of the colour was stripped from the candy cane.
When placed in vinegar, the candy cane once again started to dissolve. This time however, the candy cane turned a reddish colour rather than white. (Some of us were a little disappointed as we had predicted an explosion 💥😳.)
In hot water the candy cane dissolved almost completely.
