As part of our Spring topic we planted sunflower seeds and runner bean seeds. We put soil in a pot, made a hole in the soil, put the seed in the hole and covered it up with the soil. We will water the seeds and put them in the window to help them grow. The roots will grow down in the soil and we will watch for the shoot appearing above the soil.
