P6M STEM Viking longboats
Today we had an exciting hands-on, engineering STEM challenge where we used tinfoil to create Viking longboats and estimated how many cubes they could hold. The concept links to our WAU topic of the Vikings as we participated in Viking raids and trades. After constructing our boats, we tested their buoyancy to see if they would sink or float with the cubes. The experiment allowed us to think about how we could improve our designs for future tests. Additionally, we were given the opportunity to trade for ‘treasure,’ which sometimes turned out to be quite heavy, causing our boats to sink!! We had great fun thinking creatively and working in teams.
