Ian leis na hÉin - a visit from the Bird Man
20th Mar 2025
Tháinig Ian ar scoil chugainn inniu leis na héin atá aige. D'fhoglaim muid cuid mhór fá hulcabháin agus falcons. Bhí leis ag cuid páistí na héin a glacadh ar lámh s'acu.
We had a visit from Ian, the Bird Man, today who brought a barn owl, an African spotted eagle owl and a peregrine falcon for us to see. Some lucky children even got the chance to handle the birds.
We learned that the barn owl cannot live in a tree and must have a building to live in. The tufts on the head of the African spotted owl are NOT it's ears, but tufts of feathers to with camouflage while in trees. The feathers on both owls are very soft but the peregrine falcon has hard feathers.
Mrs Coleman really enjoyed her experience and is planning on adopting a bird of prey!
