Green Flag Award
As you know, our Eco Council have been working very hard over the last three years to help our school become more eco-friendly and energy efficient. They have planted bulbs and flowers around our school grounds, topped up our bird feeders with nuts and seeds and created a minibeast hotel for spiders and bugs. Alongside this, they have educated our pupils and staff about various environmental issues at assemblies and organised eco initiatives such as 'Waste Week', 'The Big Spring Clean Up' and the 'Cash for Clobber' scheme.
This week we received an email to inform us that our school has been awarded the internationally recognised Eco Schools Green Flag Award. The Eco Schools assessors commented that they were highly impressed with the variety of initiatives our school had undertaken to become a more eco-friendly school. They recognised the great work of our entire school community, stating that it was evident that all year groups and members of staff had played a role in helping St John the Baptist become a Green Flag school.
We look forward to returning to school in September to fly our Green Flag, proud to have achieved this prestigious Eco Schools award.
