P7 rounded off their studies of The Great Hunger by constructing models of buildings from a village in Famine Times. Pupils worked in groups, collaborating on their vision and creating furniture and fixtures which displayed their understanding - such as a soup tureen with globs of fat & long benches in the soup kitchen; industrial chimneys on the factory part of the workhouse and a bell to call people to their tasks. As well as demonstrating their knowledge, we all had a lot of fun (apart from the clean-up!)
