Exploring Circuits and Morse Code! 💡
11th Apr 2025
This week our ‘Unsinkable’ scientific investigations took us into the world of electrical circuits!
In our first task, we were asked to light a bulb by using a battery, a bulb and 2 wires! This certainly sounded a lot easier than it was - but after a few goes most of us were able to complete a circuit to light the bulb! We then explored how adding a 3rd wire, we could create a simple switch to turn the bulb on and off!
Finally we discovered how the Titanic used electricity to send out CQD and SOS distress signals (the 1st time that both signals had been sent out by a ship at once) seeking help as the ship began to sink!
We had great fun again exploring circuits, this time with a buzzer and a simple switch to send out and decode simple Morse code messages!
The boys and girls have really enjoyed this topic with lots of scientific investigations and STEM based learning taking place!
