Engineering challenge - Exploring cylinders in bridges.
12th Nov 2024
Our challenge this week was to create a paper structure that could support the weight of a P7 pupil!
We were amazed to discover that by joining many tubular structures together a bigger weight can be supported! (When we combined all our structures together, our paper tubes could even support the weight of every child and teacher in our class)!
This type of engineering is used to help support and strengthen suspension bridges such as the amazing Pont De Normandie in France - suspension bridge capable of supporting a whopping 16,500 tonnes 🤯.
