Accelerated Reading World Cup 2022
We decided to do our very own take on the World Cup this year. Each class from P4 to P7 got drawn a country to represent them and during the first week the children had to read as many words as they could to help their class qualify for the Quarter Finals.
It was here where the competition really started to heat up and the competitiveness shone through. Some different tactics were introduced by their managers (very competitive teachers) and the rules called into question, but the numbers of words read started to skyrocket.
Two classes managed to navigate their way through the Quarter and Semi-Finals and reached the Final. Rang Iníon Uí Fhoirbhithe and P7 Mrs Breen/Coleman's class. In a very closely fought final it was Rang Iníon Uí Fhoirbhithe that came out victorious.
Over the four weeks the students really engaged in the competition and over 6 million words were read. A massive well done to all.
